Everywhere in Broward Schools
Data Warehouse
In the old days, if a teacher wanted to review the academic
history of one of their students, they would have to
either contact the student's former teachers or previous
school. Now, thanks to the Data Warehouse, a teacher
can instantly see a student's history to get a better
picture of where the student has been and how to assist
in the student's future success.
Date Warehouse keeps accurate records in a user-friendly
format. Student information maintained by the Data
Warehouse includes attendance, test scores and overall
classroom performance. The objective is to use this
detailed information to improve student achievement
and success. You may access the Data Warehouse on the
District's Intranet . For more information,
contact Jeff Stanley, Director of Customer Application
Systems, 754-321-0329.
Time constraints have become a key issue for most educators
who are juggling career and family responsibilities.
Traveling to a set location after the teaching day
or on a Saturday is difficult for many active professionals.
Online inservice courses offered by the District's
Virtual University are the answer, and have served
as a model for other Florida school districts.
Virtual University
(
www.broward.k12.fl.us/ci/virtual_university)
currently offers over 75 courses and provides course
content, syllabus, specific objectives, prerequisites,
materials, dates the courses are offered and registration
information. Each course has an experienced facilitator
who provides ongoing assistance to participants and
monitors their progress. Courses are offered free to
all Broward County teachers including teachers at charter
schools and private schools that participate in federal
programs. Providing teachers with consistent, high
quality training at their convenience in the comfort
of their home is a win-win situation for education.
