District Maintenance
Seeks to
Continuously
Improve
its Service
|
The District’s Maintenance Department is responsible
for maintaining everything from historical sites built
in the 1920s to the modern, state-of-the-art, computerized
school
plants being built today. To do so, it processes more than
60,000 work orders annually and maintains approximately
30,000,000 square feet of schools and administrative facilities.
Within
each of these facilities, there are literally hundreds
of pieces of equipment that must be maintained, ranging from
gym floor to auditorium lighting and 500-ton chillers to
wall-hung air conditioning units.
In addition to performing routine repairs and preventive
maintenance, the department also performs many minor capital
projects. All of this work is performed in compliance with
applicable codes and to the satisfaction of our customers.
Maintenance staff is in the process of piloting new initiatives
designed to improve the delivery of maintenance and custodial
services. The primary goal of these operation changes – which
should be completed soon – is to:
• Streamline processes
• Increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness
• Reduce response time for services
• Provide accurate work schedules and equitable distribution
of resources
• Provide more accurate data, improved reports and improved
accountability tracking
• Improve communication
To ensure that this improvement plan meets the needs of the
District, staff is using the Sterling criteria of customer
focus to establish benchmarks and identify additional customer
needs. To learn more about this effort, please contact the
Maintenance Department at (954) 928-0135 or (954) 765-6276. |
