in the state's most recent round of FCAT meetings. Approximately
35 to 40 different FCAT meetings are held each year by
the state covering a variety of aspects. Each year, approximately

Palm Cove Elementary: A Parent Involvement School of Excellence
More than 1,100 students at Palm Cove Elementary School in
Pembroke Pines have one more reason to take pride in their
school: the National Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has
certified the school as a Parent Involvement School of Excellence!
This program recognizes schools that uphold the highest standards
in parent involvement and help meet parent involvement provisions
in the 2001 Elementary and Secondary Education Act (re-authorized
as the “No Child Left Behind Act”.) The certification
is a symbol of parents, staff and community members working
together for the common goal of helping children succeed.
District Once Again Named “What Parents Want” Award
Winner
Moving to a new town can be a traumatic experience. Getting
used to the new area and finding out information about your
new community can be a daunting task. In an effort to assist
relocating families in finding schools that meet their needs,
an independent service organization known as “SchoolMatch” began
compiling pertinent information about school districts 12
years ago. They obtain this information from a variety of
sources, including county and state audits, state taxing
authorities and state boards of education. For the fourth
time in five years, the Broward County School District was
selected as an Annual “What Parents Want” Award
winner by SchoolMatch. This year, only 2,270 of the nation's
15,576 public schools districts (about 14.5 percent) received
this designation. |
