The
Florida Retirement System (FRS) offers a series of financial
education workshops that are available to all employees
covered by the program. These workshops are led by experienced
financial planners from Ernst & Young and are held at
centrally located sites throughout the state. Under special
arrangement, the FRS will be making the following workshops
available to you at District schools sites:
Planning For Your Future Begins
Today
This one hour, high-energy workshop stresses the urgency
of planning for the future and the high cost of waiting.
Designed as a call to action, the workshop will increase
your overall awareness of financial issues through case
studies, a review of actual historic data and a discussion
around present day concerns.
Retirement Planning
This two-hour retirement planning workshop is dedicated
to helping you understand the nuts and bolts of planning
for your retirement. The workshop will demonstrate how everyday
living expenses and inflation dramatically reduce fixed
retirement income. You will see the role the FRS retirement
plans play in meeting financial goals and the income gap
that must be made up through saving and investing. You will
leave the workshop with a full understanding of the on-going
financial planning services available to you.
Investing For Everyone
This two-hour investment planning workshop gets beyond the
jargon to reveal sound basic investment principles that
everyone can understand and follow. The workshop will cover
different types of assets and how to allocate funds among
those asset classes based on tolerance for risk. This workshop
will help prepare you to make sound investment decisions
with the assistance of the MyFRS Financial Guidance Line
and the Advisor Service.

How
to Get on the Right Track
Now that we're well into 2003, it's definitely time to get
on track with your New Year's resolutions. Did you resolve
to lose weight? Exercise? Get your retirement planning in
order? Well, the first two may be tricky, but the MyFRS Financial
Guidance Program can help you with the third.
The Florida Retirement System has made the easy-to-use Advisor
Service, powered by Financial Engines, available at no charge
to you once you've made your FRS retirement plan choice. By
using this service, you can start by putting together a solid
plan that will set you on track to achieving your retirement
income goal.
Since your personal FRS information is pre-loaded into the
Advisor Service, getting a forecast is easy and requires very
little input. After reviewing your forecast, if you have concerns,
you can make changes to your savings rate, risk level and/or
investment strategy - all of which can help improve your chances
of reaching your retirement goal.
If markets change and your current plan is no longer in sync
with your retirement income goal, the Advisor Service will
turn on an "advice light," indicating that new recommendations
are available that can put you back on course. Also, if you
sign up for the Advisor Service monitoring services, you'll
periodically receive e-mails to let you know if guidance is
available that can help you stay the course. So, rest assured
that while you carry on with your day-to-day tasks, the Advisor
Service can help keep you moving in the right direction.
Log on to your account at MyFRS.com and click on the Advisor
Service button, or call 1-866-44-MyFRS today to have an Ernst
& Young financial planner guide you through the service.
In just minutes, you can get clear, customized, objective
guidance on how the changes you make today can make a powerful
difference in your future retirement income. |
