Safety
Department Highlights
As we start the
new 2002 - 2003 school year, the Safety Department received
a lot of requests for services and information. In order to
assist our schools and other sites, we would like to provide
you with the following safety highlights:
1. Schools are required to have two (2) fire drills
and
one (1) tornado drill during the first two (2) weeks
of school.
2. Check the batteries and operation of your weather
radio.
3. Only 20% of the available wall space in a classroom
or interior corridor can be covered with student art
work and other papers.
4. All student accidents must be processed on the
AS400.
5. The District’s Emergency Preparedness Program
has been updated and is available on the Safety
Department Web Page at
6. The Head Serviceperson at schools utilizing Liquid
Petroleum (LP) gas powered floor cleaning
equipment must receive training in LP gas safety.
Classes are set up throughout the Safety
Department and the Fire Academy.
7. Contact the Safety Department if there are any
problems with school crossing guards or with
school zone flashing lights. We will notify the
appropriate agency for corrective actions.
8. Be sure to schedule staff members for Cardio
Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) classes in order
to receive a portable automaticexternal defibrillator
(AED).
9. The Annual Comprehensive Safety Inspection
Report will be available on line for your review.
