Did you know that the District has a variety of Physical Plant Operation Apprentice Programs designed to help advance the careers of interested employees? Some of these programs have been around since 1975! Currently, the District offers apprenticeship programs in carpentry, electricity, plumbing, painting, air conditioning, cafeteria and industrial repair, sprinkler repair, roofing, fire alarm repair and electronics.

The District has a total of 46 employees enrolled in these programs; they work eight-hour days alongside a journeyman in their particular trades to complete their three-, four- or five-year apprenticeships. Participants in these apprenticeship programs also attend related training classes two nights a week during the school year. Upon completion, they earn a certificate of completion from the State of Florida and are promoted by the District to journeyman status.

If you're interested in learning more about the District's Physical Plant Operation Apprentice Programs and how one of them may help you advance your career, please contact Steve Deery, Apprentice Coordinator, at 754-321-4681.

Endeavour Primary Learning Center
Dedicated
On April 13th, Broward County's only Pre-K through Grade 3 facility was officially dedicated. Endeavour Primary Learning Center in Lauderhill celebrated the opening of its state-of-the-art campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by parents, area dignitaries and special guests. Songs and entertainment were provided courtesy of the Pre-K and Kindergarten classes and everyone was invited to join in a Junkanoo parade for a tour of the new school. The goal of this unique learning facility is to ensure that students will be at grade level by the end of their third grade year.
