Hallandale
Anderson Spince, Jr.
Teacher and Vocational Education Work Experience Coordinator, Department Chair of Business and Vocational Education Department

Work location: Dillard High School

Broward County Public Schools employee since: 1969

Most memorable work experience: Seeing the expression on the face of the first student I had helped obtain a job when he received his first paycheck

Most memorable personal experience: The birth of my first child, Anderson Spince, III (Mr. Spince’s namesake is 25 years old and just received his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Florida A&M University; his daughter, Brittany Nichole Spince, is a Dillard grad currently working in the District’s Compass and Central Area Transportation)

Greatest work accomplishments: Coaching Dillard’s basketball teams to county, regional, district and holiday tournaments (Mr. Spince also coached football and girls’ softball at Dillard)

What I like most about my job: Working with the kids and trying to help them get ahead; so many people helped me and I enjoy giving it back

I’m currently reading: National Rifle Association, Ebony and the Sun-Sentinel

Favorite saying: Let’s get crunk! (translation: let’s get excited and have a good time)

If I won the lottery: I would complete my DROP, buy my son and daughter their own homes and use it to help others who need help

Favorite foods: Barbecue ribs, baked beans, collard greens, macaroni and cheese and yellow and white turnips

Something you probably didn’t know about me: I can pretty much talk on any subject you ask me about, a gift that comes in particularly helpful when I have to give speeches

If I could pick someone out of history to have lunch with, I would choose: Theodore R. Primus, head football coach at Dillard when I was in high school; he was my mentor and helped me get where I am today

Three terms that describe me best:
Good personality, excellent rapport and understanding

Chocolate, vanilla or strawberry? Strawberry

Favorite movie: The Fugitive

Best advice I ever received: Go to school, learn how to be a leader, get good grades, get your diploma and further your education

Nominated for this profile by: Brittany Spince, Compass and Central Area Transportation
