Monday, October 17, 2016

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) in partnership with Boca Raton Regional Hospital, recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month by reading the Breast Cancer Awareness Resolution during the October 5, 2016, School Board meeting.  Representatives from the Christine E. Lynn Women's Health and Wellness Institute were present to share their appreciation of the long-standing partnership with BCPS, which includes the Kathryn Krickstein Pressel mobile “MammoVan.”

The MammoVan is a mammography van, which travels to school and District sites to provide screening services for District employees, in an effort to save lives through early detection.  One BCPS instructional employee, Sherry Wilton, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer after utilizing the  Mammovan when it came to her school, Lyons Creek Middle School. Her testimonial was featured in an inspirational video previewed during the October 5, 2016, Board meeting.
