The Broward County Drill meet was hosted by Fort Lauderdale High School on February 14, 2015. Twentyfour JROTC programs, with over 1,000 cadets, competed in over 21 different drill competitions. Additionally, middle school cadets from the Sunrise, Seminole, Lauderdale Lakes, West Glades, and Pines middle schools competed in Squad and Knock –out
drills. Hollywood Hills Military Academy won first place overall for the second year in a row.
What makes this feat special is that the Academy is only in its third year.
Everglades, West Broward, Western, and Monarch high schools finished out the top five positions, respectively. Select teams are now eligible to compete in state and national level drill competitions. This was also the first time, after numerous years, that the Student Leadership Development Course Programs participated in the drill meet with such numbers.
The best squads from each school, best squad overall and last ten remaining cadets in the Knock-Out Drill
were recognized. Special thanks go to Fort Lauderdale High School, the parents, volunteers, and donors that hosted the competition.
