Lauderhill 6-12 STEM-MED (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics – Medical and Engineering Design) Magnet School held a ribbon ceremony on October 24, 2013, to mark the opening of Broward County Public Schools first 6-12 grade magnet school.
"It is a new concept, and it is something that excites me," said Principal Dr. Ryan T. Reardon. "I believe we have a chance to do something really substantial. Twenty-six ninth-graders trusted me when I said that we would offer them high school education that can't be matched anywhere in the county. Now, it is my turn and my staff's turn to repay that trust.”
Superintendent Robert W. Runcie, School Board members, city of Lauderhill officials, parents, students, teachers, staff and community members were all on hand to commemorate the school’s official opening.
