Pompano Beach Middle School Students Share the Importance of Applied Learning

Thursday, May 25, 2017

In a special presentation by the District’s Applied Learning Department, Pompano Beach Middle School debate students got a chance to showcase their talents to members of the Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce Education Committee to  raise awareness of the importance of electives. The special presentation was also an opportunity invite members of the Chamber of Commerce to support an Applied Learning summer camp to provide experiences for students in art, music, debate, STEM and computer science.

“We’ve worked very hard to allow our students to have opportunities in these elective areas,” said Susan Cantrick, director of Applied Learning. “We feel that these are the areas that bring children to school, and keep children in school.”
