Students got a chance to meet Captain Barrington Irving to learn more about the adventures of his “Flying Classroom,” during his helicopter schools tour. The students, who are studying STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), have been following Captain Irving on his many expeditions around the world.
Irving spoke to students in several classrooms at Pines Lakes Elementary School, Royal Palm Elementary School and Westwood Heights Elementary School, hoping to inspire and encourage them to pursue STEM-focused opportunities.
“I was a high school football star until I met a pilot that changed my life. We want to replicate that same success for these students,” said Captain Irving.
Also, as part of his schools tour, Irving participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony at Pines Lakes Elementary for its new STEM lab. The school recently adopted a STEM engineering-focused curriculum.
