Over 100 BCPS pre-school through adult education students with disabilities were honored for their accomplishments at the annual “Just Do It...I Did!” awards ceremony on October 10, 2013. The students’ families, school staffs and special guests, including Superintendent Robert W. Runcie and School Board members, were in attendance.

Five students were “Recognized Recipients” in their grade level for earning the highest scores by the principal judges:
  • Pre-school: Aiden LaSure, Westchester Elementary School
  • Elementary School: John Soliz, Stirling Elementary School
  • Middle School: Bruno Lin, Tequesta Trace Middle School
  • High School: Nicolas Camire, Monarch High School
  • Adult Education: Jaimee Maurice, Wingate Oaks Center
The event, presented by the District’s Exceptional Student Education & Support Services Department, celebrates the exemplary achievements of students with disabilities. Created in 1999, the campaign is held in conjunction with a national awareness campaign and the Disability History and Awareness Weeks. The students are nominated by their schools to be recognized for their outstanding achievements.
