​Students led the charge to collect non-perishable food and other donations for the 24th annual Harvest Drive.
Turnaround Arts artist Autumn de Forest and performance painter David Garibaldi inspire and give back to performing and visual arts students during their recent visits to Turnarounds Arts schools Bethune Elementary School and Walker Elementary School, performing and visual arts magnet schools.
On November 30, 2016, Ramblewood Middle School students participated in the State of Florida sponsored Civics Pop-Up Quiz Show as part of "Celebrate Literacy Week Florida."
Plantation Middle School announced a new partnership with Cricket Council USA. The partnership introduces students to the second most popular sport in the world and provides the school’s newly formed cricket team with coaches, equipment and sponsorships.
Sheridan Technical College served a traditional Thanksgiving meal to families in their community as part its Harvest Feast.

School Board Celebrates Swearing in Ceremony

Four School Board members, all re-elected in the 2016 election, were sworn in during a ceremony held at the Dillard High School Center for the Performing Arts.
Three hundred immigrant students, who attended Rally to the Tally to present their legislative agendas to state elected officials in Tallahassee, got the chance to share their policy recommendations to local representatives at the Close Up – Broward Youth Policy Summit Expo.

Congratulations to the students from Hallandale High School who won nine awards at the One Act Thespian Competition on November 19, 2016. 
The Out of School Youth grant, in partnership with Career Source Broward, helps students earn their GED and gain valuable career experience.
Students at Bethune Elementary School listened to former Marlin and World Series Champion Juan Pierre.
The Pompano Beach High School Army JROTC held the annual Fallen Heroes Ceremony as part of their Veterans Day observance and tribute to veterans, fallen heroes and their families.
More than 300 books were delivered to students at Thurgood Marshall Elementary School. 

Hundreds attended Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) fifth annual Ed Talk on November 5, 2016, at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center. 

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) students from Charles Drew Elementary School in conjunction with the elementary classes at Cross Creek School co-hosted a performance by the National Theatre for Children, the largest in-school educational touring theater company in the world.

Manatee Bay Elementary Schools students got out to vote with Kids Voting Broward.

Florida Lieutenant Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera recently made a stop at Sheridan Technical High School with a focus on education.
Dillard High School Center for the Arts hosted its inaugural Superintendent’s Dance Showcase featuring dance program students from Bethune Elementary School of the Arts, Deerfield Park Elementary School of the Arts, Falcon Cove Middle School, Parkway Middle School of the Arts, and students from Dillard High School Center for the Arts.
​Plantation High School held its second annual ‘Chopped’-style competition of culinary skills.
Students from Parkside Elementary School are giving back to the community by helping local beaches.

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) joined millions to participate in the world's largest reading experience – Read for the Record – in reading the book, The Bear Ate Your Sandwich.
