Culinary Arts Students Showcase Talents at Florida Panthers Guest Chef Competition
Congratulations to Armando-Marie Ashbourne, 11th grade student from Plantation High School, on winning the Florida Panthers Guest Chef competition. Up and coming professional chefs, representing eight of Broward County Public Schools 22 high school culinary programs, participated in the Florida Panthers Guest Chef Program culinary competition. In this week's feature video story, students put their best cooking and presentation skills to the test to showcase their talents in the culinary competition, hosted by the Florida Panthers at the BB&T Center.

Deadline to Submit a School Choice Application for the 2017/18 School Year is February 8, 2017
Broward County Public Schools is a national leader for offering innovative, personalized learning programs to meet students’ interests and prepare them for college and careers. Parents and guardians interested in submitting an application for their child to participate in a magnet program, enroll in a Nova school, or apply for a school reassignment may submit a School Choice application now through February 8, 2017. BCPS Celebrates Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day
Broward County Public Schools will observe Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day on Thursday, February 2, 2017. This year’s theme is “Dependability,” an important quality and valuable trait of successful teams and workplaces. BCPS joins other local school districts in observing Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day on Thursday, February 2, 2017, instead of the national date in April, due to date conflicts with the state-mandated Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) testing period.

Broward County Public Schools School Boundary Process for the 2017/18 school year continues to move forward. A total of 18 school boundary proposals have been received, including 16 proposals submitted by community members and two proposals from the School Boundary Committee.

Tools for Schools Broward "School Supplies on the Move" Mobile Unit Visits Silver Lakes Elementary – South Florida CityBizList
The new Broward Education Foundation’s Tools for Schools “School Supplies on the Move” mobile unit recently made a stop at Silver Lakes Elementary in Miramar so teachers at this Title 1 school could shop for supplies. The teachers picked up thousands of dollars’ worth of donated school supplies free of charge.

United Way of Broward County and Broward County Public Schools bring ‘Rachel’s Challenge’ to Broward Westside Gazette
The Choose Peace/Stop Violence initiative, a partnership between United Way of Broward County, Broward County Public Schools and Children’s Services Council of Broward County, is joining forces with the Rachel’s Challenge Organization to bring the universal message of kindness and compassion to address bullying, student isolation, teen suicide, discrimination and school violence.
