Hundreds Attend Sixth Annual Ed Talk
Hundreds attended Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) sixth annual Ed Talk on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Hollywood Hills High School. Students, parents, teachers, staff, business leaders, elected officials and community members joined School Board members and BCPS Superintendent Robert W. Runcie to engage in dialogue around educational strategies and advancing the District’s Strategic Plan – and its goals of high-quality instruction, continuous improvement and effective communication.

BCPS Celebrates Our Country's Veterans
In honor of Veterans Day, Flanagan High School and schools across the District invited family members of students and staff who are United States veterans of active military members to enjoy a complimentary lunch at their children’s school on Tuesday, November, 7, 2017 – honoring them for their service and sacrifice. View video.

Walker Elementary School Celebrate Red Ribbon Week
Students at Walker Elementary School combined celebrating Red Ribbon Week and Halloween with a story book drive.  Pre-K and kindergarten students dressed up as their favorite story book character and paraded around the school to promote their “say no to drugs and yes to reading” campaign.  View video.

Silver Ridge Elementary School Teacher – A Life of Service
On this Veterans Day, we honor Silver Ridge Elementary School first grade teacher and U.S. Army Captain Ana Swecker for her service to our country and to the students of Broward County Public Schools. Captain Swecker, a veteran of Iraq and active in the U.S. Army Reserve, has dedicated her life to the service of others. This is her story.

Broward Superintendent Runcie gets salary, benefits hike - Sun-Sentinel
Broward Superintendent Robert Runcie will get a $28,000 raise and additional benefits under a contract approved by the School Board on Tuesday. The deal brings Runcie’s salary to $335,000 and extends his employment through June 30, 2023.
