This week's Friday Focus celebrates Broward County Public Schools finest and best, honored at the 2017 Caliber Awards Ceremony. Congratulations to the District’s Teacher of the Year, Principal of the Year, Assistant Principal of the Year and School-Related Employee of the Year, as well as all of the outstanding finalists and nominees! Also, congratulations to students honored by the Cambridge International Examinations organization for their outstanding Cambridge Examination performance and SECME-STEM Olympiad winners.
This week’s Friday Focus congratulates eight BCPS magnet programs for receiving the Magnet Schools of Excellence and Magnet Schools of Distinction awards; three schools named Exceeding Expectations Award Schools; and all of the finalists vying to be named the best at the 2017 Caliber Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. In this week’s Friday Focus, BCPS announces it has been named a ‘Great District for Great Teachers.' Read about this and a second national distinction on Districtwide accreditation in a letter from Superintendent Robert W. Runcie. Also, Turnaround Arts artists American Idol finalist Pia Toscano, opera singer Carla Dirlikov Canales, Tony award-winning actor John Lloyd Young showcased performances in a star studded gala with students from Turnaround Arts program participating schools Bethune Elementary School, Lake Forest Elementary School and Walker Elementary School.
