Monday, September 11, 2017

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS schools and offices) remain closed until further notice, which includes at least Tuesday, September 12 and Wednesday, September 13. Earlier today, Superintendent Robert W. Runcie informed the community, at the Broward Emergency Operations Center noon news conference, that the District is targeting the “latter part of the week to re-open. However, any decision regarding re-opening will be based on a variety of factors including, power restoration, the transition of shelters, safety, and access to and condition of school campuses.”

The District will provide additional updates as staff continues to assess school campuses.

Please note: The special School Board meeting, School Board workshop and the 2nd Public Hearing – Budget scheduled for Tuesday, September 12 are CANCELED.

BCPS updates are provided via a variety of communication channels, including the District website (browardschools.com), robocalls, social media (Twitter @browardschools and on Facebook facebook.com/browardschools), the free BCPS mobile app, BECON-TV and local media. The District will also continue to update its Information Hotline at 754-321-0321, with the latest information.

Safety is always the District’s priority.  We hope that all families, employees and community members were safe during the storm and remain safe.
