BCPS Congratulates 2014 National Merit Program Semifinalists

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) congratulates 35 students for being named Semifinalists in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program.  These high school seniors are among 16,000 students nationwide selected for this honor from more than 50,000 qualifying applicants.
 
The National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists now continue in the competition to be named National Merit Finalists and ultimately National Merit Scholars, who are eligible to compete for 8,000 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $35 million.
 
“This is a rigorous process. I commend these students for their outstanding accomplishments.  They are among the best and brightest in our high schools and I wish them success as they continue in this prestigious competition,” said Superintendent Robert W. Runcie.
