Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) congratulates Benjamin Goldstein of Cooper City High School and Jalen Jiang of Cypress Bay High School for being named the District’s 2016 Sunshine State Scholars.
The Sunshine State Scholars program recognizes the state’s top 11th grade students in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and encourages them to pursue their postsecondary education and future careers in Florida. Goldstein and Jiang were honored by the Florida Department of Education, along with Sunshine State Scholars from across the state, during the annual Sunshine State Scholars program in Orlando, Florida, May 19-20, 2016.
During the two-day program, the scholars:
- Received recognition for their achievements
- Met with STEM industry leaders and learned about the latest innovations, discoveries and careers available in Florida
- Talked with representatives from Florida’s colleges and universities about special programs of study and industry internship opportunities
The Sunshine State Scholars were invited to attend the program with their parents and a teacher of their choice.
