Superintendent Robert W. Runcie and School Board members spent the first day of the new school year visiting several schools, greeting students, parents, teachers and staff. “It has truly been an exciting day. I enjoyed visiting our schools, speaking with students and their parents, and greeting staff,” said Superintendent Robert Runcie. “Our employees - at all levels - are working incredibly hard to ensure a smooth start to the school year.”
As of the first day, there were 261,709 students attending BCPS schools. This marks an increase of 1,766 from 2012/13. In addition, as part of the Children Have a Need to Grow Everyday Movement (C.H.A.N.G.E.), 85,292 adults accompanied a student to school today.
