Monarch High School, Is this Behavior “Typical or Troubled” Information Session
Tuesday, May 20, 2014, 6:30 – 8 p.m.
5050 Wiles Road, Coconut Creek, FL 33073
The Student Services Department will host a “Typical or Troubled” information workshop and panel discussion focused on the difference between troubled and typical adolescent behavior, how to manage related problems and ways to communicate. Parents, teachers and other adults who work with teens will learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms or troubled teens. The session is free.
 
Western High School, Tomodachi Japan Day
Thursday, May 22, 2014, 10:30 a.m. – noon

Western High will host Tomodachi Japan Day with help from partners Morikami Museum & Japanese Gardens and the Consulate of Japan. Students from 15 participating elementary schools who have been learning the Japanese language and culture will “meet up” at Western High to enjoy Japanese presentations and activities led by Western High students. Performances will include taiko drumming, martial arts, a costume play and parade, and songs by Japanese teacher Satoko Fisher and students.
 
Silver Shores Elementary School, 2nd Annual Enrichment Cluster Extravaganza
Thursday, May 22, 2014, 8:15 – 11:15 a.m.

The Enrichment Cluster Extravaganza provides students the opportunity to showcase their finished products or performances in front of the Silver Shores community. City of Miramar and District officials are expected to attend.

Sprouting STEM Schools – Night at the Museum
May 20 – 29, 2014
Sprouting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Museum magnet schools will host a “Night at the Museum.” During the museum exhibition night, students will become docents and principals will become curators, as visitors experience hallway and classroom galleries decorated with students’ projects, displays and works of art.
