Tuesday, December 17, 2013
The School Board of Broward County, Florida, today (December 17, 2013), approved the 2014/15 school year calendar at its regular School Board meeting. Students will begin school on Monday, August 18, 2014, and end on Thursday, June 4, 2015.

The calendar, which has 180 instructional days, includes a two-week winter break beginning December 22, 2014 through January 2, 2015, and a one-week spring break March 23 – 27, 2015. Teacher planning days (no students in school) are scheduled for October 24, 2014; November 4, 2014; December 19, 2014; March 20, 2015; and June 5, 2015. The 2014/15 calendar also includes contingencies for up to four hurricane make-up days, if needed.

A calendar committee comprised of representatives from various bargaining units, parents groups, and District departments established and presented two draft calendar options to the Board.  The calendar committee provided parents and the public a weeklong (October 21-29, 2013) opportunity to review and provide feedback for preferred calendar options through an online presentation featured on the District website (browardschools.com).

Additional calendars, including summer term for community schools and technical centers, year-round school and employee work calendars, will be presented for Board approval in February 2014.
