Hurricane Irma Update Wednesday, September 6, 2017

Broward County Public Schools continues to monitor Hurricane Irma and work closely with emergency and safety officials regarding the storm.  Updated information is below:
  • All evening school activities, athletic events and classes are canceled on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. 
  • All normal District operations will conclude as of 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2017. This is in consideration of the District's aftercare programs which will remain open today as scheduled. 
  • As a reminder, schools and District offices are closed Thursday, September 7 and Friday, September 8, 2017, as the District and Broward County prepare for Irma, which includes the preparation of schools designated as hurricane shelters. 
  • All weekend school activities and events are also canceled. This includes the administration of the ACT at all BCPS testing locations on Saturday, September 9, 2017.
The District’s Emergency Management Unit continues to monitor Hurricane Irma, and receive updates from the Broward County Emergency Operations Center and National Weather Center.  All schools and District site preparations, in accordance with the Emergency Preparedness protocols, should be finalized by end of day today, Wednesday, September 6, 2017.
