Taravella High School’s Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) will host the Coral Springs 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, benefitting the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation (NFFF) and the Twin Towers Orphan Fund.

This stair climb is one of 35 events held across the country for NFFF to honor the New York Fire Department’s firefighters lost on 9/11, and is the only one in the nation developed and hosted by a high school group. Over 100 DECA members, and another 100 Coral Springs area firefighters and residents will climb the equivalent of the height of the Twin Towers; 110 floors.

The event includes student presentations and a speech by a 9/11 North Tower survivor. The public is invited to attend the opening ceremonies. Adults who wish to participate must register at http://www.firehero.org/event/stairclimb14-coralsprings/.

Taravella’s DECA is comprised of students interested in pursuing marketing or finance careers and has over 300 members. Successful past community service projects include support of the troops in Iraq, distracted driving programs, anti-bully campaigns and a Guinness World Record set as part of a special needs project.
