The School Board of Broward County, Florida, recently approved revisions to school opening and closing times for the 2016/17 school year. These revisions were necessary due to state requirements for extending instructional time beyond the normal school day at specific elementary schools in the state. School opening and closing times were also adjusted for schools no longer requiring the extended school day.
Schools are scheduled to open and close at times that best utilize existing resources to provide transportation services and accommodate student and program growth.
See the attached 2016/17 revised school opening and closing times. This information is also available in the District’s Back to School online resource, on our Back to School Resource Guide
. The online resource provides a variety of information for parents and families as they prepare for the new school year.
In addition, as the District counts down to the first day of school on Monday, August 22, 2016, families, schools and District staff are encouraged to share their first day experience on social media using #BCPSFirstDayandEveryDay.
