School Boundary Public Hearing

On Wednesday, March 12, 2014, the School Board of Broward County, Florida, held the second of two scheduled public hearings regarding the 2014/15 school attendance areas and school usage recommendations for all elementary, middle, high and combination schools. 

The School Board discussed and adopted the following items from the Superintendent’s Final Boundary Recommendations:
  • Item C-1: Reconfigure Coral Springs Elementary School as a Pre-K- 6th-grade school (moving toward a Pre-K-8 configuration).
  • Item C-2: Reconfigure Annabelle C. Perry Elementary School as a Pre-K -6th grade school (moving toward a PreK - 8 configuration).
  • Item C-3: Reconfigure North Lauderdale Elementary School as a Pre-K - 6th grade (moving toward a Pre-K - 8 configuration).
  • Item E-2: A boundary change from Cooper City Elementary School to Embassy Creek Elementary School and Silver Ridge Elementary School to enable Cooper City Elementary School to meet the Class Size Reduction mandate.  Rising fifth-grade students are allowed to remain at Cooper City Elementary for the 2014/15 school year.
  • Item H-1: The implementation of a blended online technical high school at Sheridan Technical Center, Sunset site.

The School Board will be holding an additional public hearing to discuss recommended boundary changes impacting Park Trails Elementary School and Heron Heights Elementary School.  The date, time and location of the third School Boundaries Public Hearing will be provided as soon as it is finalized.
