Students Are On a Mission to Raise Money for Honor Flight

Thursday, February 20, 2014

The Broward County Association of Student Councils (BCASC) is on a mission to raise funds to send at least 72 World War II and Korean War veterans to Washington D.C., on the Spring Honor Flight from Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport.

The fundraising effort across Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) started on February 18 and extends through February 28, 2014.“We are proud of our BCASC students and their project to raise funds for Honor Flight. When the students asked us for our support, we immediately joined their mission,” said Superintendent Robert W. Runcie.

Honor Flight is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices.  They transport our heroes to Washington D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials.  Top priority is given to senior veterans – World War II survivors, along with other veterans who may be terminally ill.

Staff, parents and community members can support this project by way of a donation or by purchasing a
