U.S. Department of Education Officials to Visit BCPS For Green Strides Best Practices Tour

WHO:                   Students, parents, community members, District staff and education officials  
WHAT:                  The U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon-Green Strides Best Practices Tour
WHEN:                  Friday, September 5, 2014, 9:20 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (see tour schedule below)
WHY:                     In honor of Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) being recognized as a 2014 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School District, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools officials, joined by state and local officials, will visit several District schools as part of the second annual Green Strides Best Practices Tour.  Healthy Schools, High-Achieving Students is this year’s tour theme.
Green Strides Best Practices Tour Schedule
9:20 – 10:10 a.m.                
Silver Ridge Elementary, 9100 SW 36th St., Davie
P3 Eco-Challenge School, student-led tours of the school’s green projects.
10:45 – 11: 50 a.m.            
Driftwood Middle School, 2751 NW 70th Terr., Hollywood
2013 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School and P3 Eco-Challenge School, student-led tour of the school’s environmental and wellness initiatives.
12:30 – 2:00 p.m.                
South Plantation High School, 1300 SW 54th Ave., Plantation presentation of District initiatives and goals, and tour of South Plantation solar racing car and environmental magnet programs.
2:30 – 4:00 p.m.                  
Hugh Taylor Birch Youth Lodge featuring New River Middle School, 3109 East Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, 2014 P3 Eco-Challenge School, visit to student-led centers.
