Broward County Public Schools participates in the Child Care Food Program (CCFP), a federally-funded program which provides healthy meals and snacks in the child care setting.
 
Wendi Fischer also known as the “Chess Lady” dresses as a medieval queen who hosts chess lessons each week that BCPS students watch digitally in class.  Fischer will host a special Family Chess Night at Horizon Elementary.

BCPS Announces 2016 Graduation Schedule

Class of 2016, mark your calendars! Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) announces graduation ceremonies for all high schools, centers and technical colleges. Graduation ceremonies will kick off on June 3, 2016.  Below is the schedule of ceremonies, locations, dates and times. The complete graduation schedule is also available at browardschools.com.
 
In all, 99 students from Cypress Bay High School, Fort Lauderdale High School and South Broward High
School received prestigious awards from Cambridge International Examinations to acknowledge their
exceptional performance in the June 2015 Cambridge examination series.
 
Mark your calendars! Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) students will start the 2016/17 school year on Monday, August 22, 2016.  The School Board of Broward County, Florida, approved the 2016/17 school year calendar at its December 8, 2015, School Board meeting.
 
Third, fourth and fifth grade students from Cooper City Elementary will participate in the Miami Dolphins Junior Training Camp. Students will learn skills in both NFL-style offensive and defensive drills using the same equipment as the Miami Dolphins, including hurdles, knock-away dummies, ladders and halfback pads.
 
The NFL’s Super Bowl High School Honor Roll program honors McArthur High School with a commemorative golden football from former NFL Super Bowl winner and McArthur High School alumnus, Bryant McFadden. 
 
​Congratulations to Linda Gancitano and Jennifer Hoover of Driftwood Middle School in Hollywood for being selected as the Heart-Healthy School Award recipients for the 2014/15 school year.
 
Nova Eisenhower Elementary School is gearing up for a special award from the national non-profit organization, Code.org.  It’s the Florida winner of a $10,000 prize recognizing the school’s commitment to having all students participate in Hour of Code activities during National Computer Science Education Week.
