Mark your calendars! Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) students will start the 2016/17 school year on Monday, August 22, 2016.  The School Board of Broward County, Florida, approved the 2016/17 school year calendar at its December 8, 2015, School Board meeting.
Third, fourth and fifth grade students from Cooper City Elementary will participate in the Miami Dolphins Junior Training Camp. Students will learn skills in both NFL-style offensive and defensive drills using the same equipment as the Miami Dolphins, including hurdles, knock-away dummies, ladders and halfback pads.
The NFL’s Super Bowl High School Honor Roll program honors McArthur High School with a commemorative golden football from former NFL Super Bowl winner and McArthur High School alumnus, Bryant McFadden. 
​Congratulations to Linda Gancitano and Jennifer Hoover of Driftwood Middle School in Hollywood for being selected as the Heart-Healthy School Award recipients for the 2014/15 school year.
Nova Eisenhower Elementary School is gearing up for a special award from the national non-profit organization, Code.org.  It’s the Florida winner of a $10,000 prize recognizing the school’s commitment to having all students participate in Hour of Code activities during National Computer Science Education Week.

The School Board of Broward County, Florida, elected Dr. Rosalind Osgood as Chair and Abby M. Freedman as Vice Chair for the 2015/16 school year. The election took place during the School Board’s Annual Organization Meeting. 
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) “Conversation With The District” town hall meeting series is a community forum, providing an opportunity for parents, students, staff and community members to share input and thoughts with School Board members and the Superintendent about what the District is doing well or where improvements can be made.
To celebrate the 2015 Miami International Book Fair, children's book author/illustrator Eric Velasquez will read his book, “Los Discos de mi Abuela” to Hallandale Elementary dual language students.
Free Family Fun Events at Each College Campus this Saturday, November 14, 2015. Broward County Public Schools three technical colleges, Atlantic Technical College in Coconut Creek, McFatter Technical College in Davie and Sheridan Technical College in Hollywood, are each holding Discovery Fest on their campuses.
The BCPS debate initiative, a partnership between local businesses and high school debate programs, is holding an informative luncheon about the program and how businesses can get involved.
