Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is proud to announce that eight students are members of the Class of 2015 Gates Millennium Scholars.

Congratulations to Lauderhill 6-12 STEM-MED and Parkway Middle School for receiving the Florida Farm to School “Golden Shovel” Awards. Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam recently presented the inaugural awards for exceptional school gardens in the state.

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is home to many of the best high schools in the nation and state, according to recent rankings by U.S. News & World Report. In all, 14 BCPS high schools received gold, silver or bronze medals in the 2015 Best High Schools national ranking.
 
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) offers a free, full day Summer Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program from June through August 2015.
 
Mark your calendars! Students of Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) will start the 2015/16 school year on Monday, August 24, 2015. The Broward County School Board approved the 2015/16 school year calendar at its December 9, 2014, School Board meeting.
 

Katherine O’Fallon, New River Middle School Marine Science Magnet coordinator, is gearing up for an incredible deep sea adventure. She is one of 28 educators from around the world to be selected as a 2015 Nautilus Ambassador and sail aboard Dr. Robert Ballard’s Exploration Vessel (EV) Nautilus during its 2015 expedition. Dr. Ballard is one of the world’s most well-known deep sea explorers; among his notable achievements, the discovery of the sunken Titanic. 
 

In its second round of announcing winners in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation named seven Broward County Public Schools seniors as National Merit Scholars. The students are among the 2,500 Merit Scholar designees chosen from a talent pool of more than 15,000 outstanding Finalists.
 
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) will celebrate students who have achieved perfect attendance at its fourth annual Best-in-Class and Perfect Attendance Awards ceremony on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at 6:30 p.m., Plantation High School Auditorium, 6901 NW 16th Street, Plantation.
 
The Hollywood Hills High School Military Academy JROTC Drill Team made Broward County history by competing in two major competitions on the same day, ranking among the best in the nation and state.

Parents and guardians interested in submitting a 2015/16 School Choice late application for magnet and reassignment seats still available following the original application window earlier this year, can do so starting Friday, May 1, 2015.
 
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) congratulates Superintendent Robert W. Runcie on being named the 2015 Hispanic-Serving School District (HSSD) Superintendent of the Year by the Association for Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS).
 
As part of the District’s El Dia de Los Niños celebration, School Board members, Superintendent Runcie, District staff and community members will read the book, “The Bossy Gallito/El Gallo de Bodas,” to pre-k and  kindergarten students across Broward County Public Schools (BCPS).

Congratulations to Fort Lauderdale High School for earning top 50 placement on “America’s Most Challenging High Schools” 2015 list by The Washington Post.
 
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) high school juniors at six schools had the unique opportunity to take the ACT and College Board's SAT during their regular school day. 
 
Nova Middle School and Nova High School hosted an interactive civil rights forum welcoming Seagull Alternative High School, Stranahan High School, Dillard High School and the College Academy to the high school campus, on April 17, 2015.

Congratulations to Falcon Cove Middle School seventh grade Prevention Squad team on being named a state winner in the 13th annual eCYBERMISSION competition by the U.S. Army Educational Outreach Program.

The Broward SECME – STEM Olympiad includes fun, interactive competitions with student teams from schools across Broward County.
