Nova Middle School will celebrate the ribbon cutting and grand opening of its new Law Studies Program Courtroom on Friday, January 9, 2015, at 8:30 a.m. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be followed by special presentations and an inaugural mock trial led by students of the Nova Middle School Law Studies Program.

2014 high school grades and graduation rates were released today by the Florida Department of Education. In the data released, more than 75% of Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) traditional high schools earned an A or B grade and achieved a graduation rate of 88%.

With the focus of raising funds and public awareness, last year, the Broward County Association of Student Councils (BCASC) came up with a plan to honor veterans as part of the South Florida Honor Flight mission. Through the project, middle and high schools raised approximately $30,000 to send 43 World War II and Korean War veterans to visit the National World War II Memorial in Washington, DC.

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) led the world in 2013 with student participation in the Hour of Code. This year, 100% of the schools in BCPS are taking part in the weeklong events. The Hour of Code is a national campaign organized by Code.org, a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding computer science programs in schools. The goal is to inspire 100 million students across the globe to try one hour of computer science during National Computer Science Education Week, December 8-14, 2014.
