Nova Middle School will celebrate the ribbon cutting and grand opening of its new Law Studies Program Courtroom on Friday, January 9, 2015, at 8:30 a.m. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be followed by special presentations and an inaugural mock trial led by students of the Nova Middle School Law Studies Program.

“To honor America on this special holiday game, The Miami HEAT would like the Everglades High School “Legacy Choir” to perform the National Anthem prior to tip-off of the Cleveland Cavaliers vs Miami HEAT game on December 25, 2014.

Brian G. Kingsley is recognized as an Emerging Leader by PDK International and meets with federal education policy makers and education leaders in Washington, DC to discuss education best practices.
Cypress Bay High School celebrated the grand opening of the Confucius Institute of Broward County Public Schools (BCPS).
2014 high school grades and graduation rates were released today by the Florida Department of Education.  In the data released, more than 75% of Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) traditional high schools earned an A or B grade and achieved a graduation rate of 88%.

The College Academy @ BC (Broward College) will hold two informational Open House events for interested students at Bailey Hall, Broward College, Central Campus, 3501 SW Davie Road, Davie, on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at 7 p.m. (for students whose last names begin with A-L) and Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at 7 p.m. (for students whose last names begin with M-Z).

Congratulations to Frances Safaite-Frederic on being named Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction by the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS). She was honored at a recognition event on December 6, 2014, at the Carter Center in Atlanta.

Congratulations to Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) outstanding arts educators who were named winners in the dance, music, theater and visual arts categories of Broward County's 29th Arts Education Ceremony, ArtsED Forever!

With the focus of raising funds and public awareness, last year, the Broward County Association of Student Councils (BCASC) came up with a plan to honor veterans as part of the South Florida Honor Flight mission. Through the project, middle and high schools raised approximately $30,000 to send 43 World War II and Korean War veterans to visit the National World War II Memorial in Washington, DC.

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) led the world in 2013 with student participation in the Hour of Code.  This year, 100% of the schools in BCPS are taking part in the weeklong events.   The Hour of Code is a national campaign organized by Code.org, a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding computer science programs in schools.  The goal is to inspire 100 million students across the globe to try one hour of computer science during National Computer Science Education Week, December 8-14, 2014.

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is proud to present the 2015 Superintendent’s Advanced Placement Studio Art Exhibition, in conjunction with the All County Honors Music Concerts, at the Coral Springs Museum of Art/Coral Springs Center for the Arts, located at 2855 Coral Springs Drive in Coral Springs.

Congratulations to Broward County Public Schools innovator Dr. Jeanine Gendron on being recognized as one of the Center for Digital Education’s (CDE) 2014 Top 30 Technologists, Transformers and Trailblazers.

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS), in partnership with the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, will host its 26th annual Winter Festival of Music.

Congratulations to Nova High School and Coral Springs High School, on recent accolades from the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA).  

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is excited to announce the School Choice application window for a magnet program, Nova school, or school reassignment for the 2015/16 school year takes place December 1, 2014 - February 11, 2015.

As part of the United States Air Force's ongoing mission to promote music education it has scheduled a national tour for students, through its premier jazz ensemble,  The Airmen of Note.

In a unanimous vote today, Tuesday, November 18, 2014, Broward County School Board members elected Donna P. Korn Chair and Dr. Rosalind Osgood Vice Chair. The nominations and voting took place during the School Board’s Annual Organization Meeting, following the swearing-in ceremony for re-elected School Board members.

This school year, Broward County Public Schools expanded the number of elementary schools offering Dual Language programs to 15 schools.  Superintendent Runcie will be touring one of the new Dual Language programs at Cypress Elementary School on Wednesday, November 19, 2014.

For the 22nd consecutive year, Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) students, parents and community supporters have joined Harvest Drive, Inc. to help needy families during the holiday season.

Students from Western High School’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program will exhibit a full-size solar car, designed and built by the students at this year’s Miami International Auto Show, November 7 – 16, 2014.

The King Arthur Flour Company will come to Broward County to present its Bake for Good: Kids Program. 

Physical education classes will take part in helping the WSSA reach a new world record of 600,000 stackers as students stack up and stack down plastic cups into various pyramids in prescribed patterns for at  least 30 minutes. 

Parents and students are invited to attend and learn more about magnet and Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) programs offered to students at Atlantic Technical, Blanche Ely, Boyd Anderson, Deerfield Beach, Dillard, Fort Lauderdale, Northeast and Pompano Beach high schools.
