BCPS 3rd Annual College Fair - Free and Open to the Public
 
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) welcomes all students and families displaced due to recent natural disasters locally and abroad.
 
Today, October 3, 2017, The School Board of Broward County, Florida, unanimously approved utilizing two previously scheduled early release days – October 19, 2017, and December 22, 2017 – as makeup days for Hurricane Irma.
 
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) kicks off the second annual Next Gen Engage series of community conversations led by students, on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at South Plantation High School, 1300 Paladin Way, Plantation, FL 33317.

District schools reopened following Hurricane Irma
 
As of Sunday morning, September 17, 2017, Florida Power & Light has restored power to ALL District schools, including the three schools - Attucks Middle School, Pompano Beach Middle School and Piper High School - announced on Saturday afternoon to have no or limited power. Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) schools and offices will reopen on Monday, September 18, following Hurricane Irma. All District schools and offices will follow their normal operating schedules.

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) continues to work toward its goal of reopening schools on Monday, September 18, 2017, following Hurricane Irma and will make a final determination as soon as possible.
 
As of noon today, Saturday, September 16, 2017, there are 8 District schools without full power. BCPS is receiving updates from Florida Power & Light (FPL) regarding estimates for when power will be restored to these schools and appreciates how hard FPL crews are working to repair power lines across our community that were damaged by the storm.
 
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS schools and offices) will remain closed through Friday, September 15, 2017.  BCPS staff continues to assess school campuses to determine when it will be possible to reopen schools. At this time, many school campuses are without power.
 
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS schools and offices) remain closed until further notice, which includes at least Tuesday, September 12 and Wednesday, September 13. Earlier today, Superintendent Robert W. Runcie informed the community, at the Broward Emergency Operations Center noon news conference, that the District is targeting the “latter part of the week to re-open.
 
REMINDER: All Broward County Public Schools (schools and offices) remain closed until further notice. Additional information will follow after all school campuses are checked once it is safe to do so after the storm.
 
Broward County Public Schools continues to monitor Hurricane Irma and work closely with emergency and safety officials regarding the storm.
 
Broward County Public Schools and District offices will be closed on Thursday, September 7 and Friday, September 8, 2017, as the District and Broward County prepare for Hurricane Irma, which includes the preparation of schools designated as hurricane shelters.
 
Today, Friday, August 25, 2017, Boyd H. Anderson High School unveiled its new media center – a $2 million media center renovation as part of the District’s SMART program improvements.

First Day of Schools News Conference 
 
Today, Monday, August 21, 2017, students and families were welcomed to classrooms across Broward County Public Schools (BCPS). School Board members, Superintendent Robert W. Runcie, the Miami Marlins and Florida Panthers also welcomed students and families.
 
Summer vacation will officially be over for more than 270,000 students and 15,000 teachers in Broward County Public Schools (BCPS), as they head back to the classroom on Monday, August 21, 2017 – the first day of school.
