The Miami Dolphins treat students at Seminole Middle School to a day of fun in the sun!  The emphasis during the Dolphins Academy is on the importance of education and reaching your goals.  Watch the video.

 

 

Ninth-grade students at Lauderhill 6-12 raised $600 to purchase a bulletproof vest for the city of Lauderhill's newest K-9 Officer, Maxxx.  Watch the video

     

The Sapphire Dancers from William Dandy Middle School helped to kickoff festivities around BCPS in honor of Black History Month.  The Sapphire Dancers performed at the Kathleen C. Wright Administrative Center during the February 4, 2014, School Board meeting.

 

A McNicol Middle Magnet & STEM School student created an art panel as part of a project by the Department of Diversity, Cultural Outreach and Prevention, in collaboration with Artists in Residence. The project, which included students at 11 BCPS schools, encouraged students’ use of artistic expression as they learned about Black History and SANKOFA, which means looking back to proceed forward successfully.

     

Plantation High School Aerospace Design and Engineering students win Honorable Mention in the White House Film Festival.  The topic of the Festival was how students use technology in the classroom and at school, and the role technology will play in the future.  Watch their video  (now posted on the Students Page of the District's website).

 

High School students across BCPS learn about the Holocaust via a special presentation by Jan Malecha of the Buchenwald Concentration Camp Memorial in Germany.  His first school visit in Broward County took place at Cypress Bay High School.  Watch the video

     

The Nova High School Euro Challenge team won first place on March 13, 2014, in the Euro Challenge competition at Florida International University.  This competition included schools from south and central Florida. The students had to make a presentation about the European Union economy, a member country and its economic problem, and identify policies for responding to that problem. As a result of winning, Nova students will have a free trip to New York to compete nationally in April. The team is sponsored by Nova High teacher Shawna Morgan-Ionescu (left).
