On January 12, 2015, Florida Governor Rick Scott visited Atlantic Technical College and High School.  During his visit, he toured a machining class and had an opportunity to speak with students about the career skills they are learning.  In addition, the Governor also announced his proposed K-12 funding for 2015/16. 


Students from Blanche Ely High School participate in the Above the Influence March and Rally, which took place on Friday, March 13, 2015.


Silver Ridge Elementary School hosted the District's First Move Chess Night on February 11, 2015.  Pictured left to right: Mark S. On February 6, 2015, approximately 800 students from 68 schools participated in the Broward County Science Fair at the Westfield Broward Mall.


Students from schools across the District participated in a special celebration during the February 3, 2015, School Board Meeting honoring Black History Month.



The Plantation High School Cheerleadering Team helped guests "Catch the Spirit" during  the District's annual Community Involvement Awards celebration.

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is being
recognized for its commitment to its employees.  During the February 3, 2015, School Board meeting, the American Heart Association presented the District with its Gold Fit-Friendly Wellness Award.  The award recognizes employers that champion the health of their employees and work to create a culture of physical activity in the workplace.


The Challenger Ensemble from Challenger Elementary School welcomes parents to a reception at the Kathleen C. Wright Administration Center on Monday, March 16, 2015, honoring Youth Arts Month 2015.


On January 29, 2015, celebrity chef Lauren Von Der Pool visited Liberty Elementary School STEM students to demonstrate how to prepare raw and vegan cuisine.  Von Der Pool is the chef to Venus and Serena Williams.  In addition, she is also a chef in First Lady Michelle Obama's obesity prevention campaign. 


On March 18, 2015, New River Middle School hosted a "Real Men Read" literacy event, which aimed to increase students' awareness about the importance of reading.
