Jannette Thompson-Irwin, Office Manager Confidential at Pompano Beach Middle School, was named Broward County Public Schools School-Related Employee of the Year for 2008/09 at a breakfast celebration held Wednesday (December 17) at the Signature Grand in Davie.
According to Principal Sonja Braziel, “Mrs. Thompson-Irwin is not only the office manager. She is a nurse when students need medicine and a counselor when anyone needs a listening ear. She is endeared by the entire staff for her ability to successfully organize, coordinate and motivate others. She extends herself to our school community with warmth and compassion that is noticed by everyone.”
For the past 14 years at Pompano Beach Middle School, Thompson-Irwin has provided a wealth of services that exceed her given responsibilities. She maintains and manages the high volume of records, data, files, mail and memoranda that permeate the front office, while offering compassionate assistance to everyone she encounters. Thompson-Irwin exercises an empathetic and accommodating demeanor when interacting with students, parents, teachers and school staff and, as a result, has been her school’s Employee of the Year for the last three years.
She has also dedicated her time to bolster customer satisfaction within the school by becoming a tutor, volunteer, and community liaison. She exudes a vivacious spirit for her school through her support of various school functions. She participates in multicultural programs, chaperones dances and fields trips, coordinates holiday parties and organizes employee celebrations. Her fellow staff members say that Thompson-Irwin’s continuous, soaring level of professionalism and high ethical standards help to maintain the integrity of Pompano Beach Middle School year after year.
