Broward Education Foundation (BEF)
Making the Dream of Attending College A Reality
Each year the Broward Education Foundation Scholarship Celebration raises dollars to provide scholarships to deserving graduating seniors who dream of attending college.
Through the Broward Education Foundation Scholarship Fund with support from the Broward Advisors for Continuing Education (BRACE), named in honor of the Broward Advisors for Continuing Education, qualifying Broward County students receive scholarships to attend a community college, university or vocational school.
This past year, Broward Education Foundation awarded over 368 grants to teachers totaling $187,700. Grants were awarded on a competitive basis and we received over 600 requests—the need is far greater than the funds available. Grants were awarded for teacher initiated projects ranging from Art & Drama to projects in science and technology.
Priority is given to programs uniquely designed to do one or more of the following: Educate students in financial literacy, incorporate alternative learning strategies, promote interdisciplinary learning, involve parents, businesses, community organizations and/or social service agencies, bridge culture or ethnic barriers, involve a group of teachers collaborating to improve students learning at their school.
Tools for Schools Broward
Thanks to the generous contributions from our major sponsors and supporters, more than $10 million in school supplies have been donated to the Tools for Schools Broward center since its founding. As a result of this partnership, 300,000 students and 15,000 teachers annually are able to receive free supplies.
