DISTRICT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR KATRINA VICTIMS
The District is assisting the victims of Hurricane Katrina who relocate to the South Florida region with finding temporary and permanent employment in the following ways:
- District employment opportunities are linked to the Hurricane Katrina section of the District Web site.
- District employment opportunities are posted on other employment Web sites that are offering their services free of charge to those advertising positions for Hurricane Katrina victims.
- District teacher certification administrators are handling teaching certificate waiver verifications with the appropriate state perspective teachers are from.
- The District Employment Center is processing paperwork associated with hiring Hurricane Katrina victims without an appointment.
- Fingerprinting of Hurricane Katrina victims hired by the District will be completed without an appointment, and the fee will be waived.
- Employment information for Hurricane Katrina victims will be entered into the District’s SAP employee database on a priority basis within 48 hours for payroll purposes.
- Candidates relocating to the District from the Hurricane Katrina region will have ninety days after being employed to provide verification of prior employment, certification, Social Security card, references and other required documents and paperwork to the District.
