BROWARD SCHOOLS, OFFICES TO REOPEN WEDNESDAY

Broward County Public Schools reopen for the 2008-2009 school year tomorrow, Wednesday, August 20th, 2008, following the unscheduled closings of all District schools and offices on Monday and Tuesday due to the actual and potential impact of Tropical Storm Fay.

District Physical Plant Operations (maintenance) crews conducted inspections of all schools and office sites this morning and discovered no substantial damage or other storm impacts that would preclude the reopening of all District facilities tomorrow.

Schools and District offices will follow their regular Wednesday schedules tomorrow.

Students and parents are advised to exercise caution when walking or driving to school tomorrow morning, as area motorists are not used to school safety zones and large numbers of children travelling to and from school.  All motorists are advised to pay close attention to school safety zone signs and lights that restrict speeds to 15 miles per hour when the lights are flashing and during designated periods of the day when students are in transit.
