VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
A number of organizations are looking for volunteers to assist with the recovery from Hurricane Wilma. There are some of the opportunities available to Broward County Public Schools employees.

POINTS OF DISTRIBUTION (POD)
These are the sites around the country where water and ice and distributed to the public. Volunteers are needed to help staff these stations. Call 954-522-6761 to volunteer.
CHILD CARE FOR LOCAL HOSPITAL WORKERS
Broward County Public Schools teachers and other district employees are asked to serve as volunteer child care providers for local hospital workers at area hospitals during recovery from Hurricane Wilma. Many of these nurses, doctors and administrative staff personnel have no option but to bring their children to work with them because the schools are closed and alternative child care facilities are unavailable.
Employees who reside north of I-595 can call the North Broward Hospital District Command Center at 954-767-5377. Employees residing south of I-595 can call the Memorial Hospital Miramar Volunteer Coordinator at 954-538-4829 to volunteer,
ASSISTANCE FOR EMPLOYEES
FEMA
Employees needing federal assistance from the impact of Hurricane Wilma on their property can call the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) at 1-800-621-3362. You will need to have your Social Security number in applying for this assistance.
ASSISTANCE COPING WITH STRESS/DEPRESSION
Employees having trouble coping with stress and depression during this period can call the following toll-free telephone numbers for assistance, depending on their healthcare provider. For those on the Humana Healthcare Plan, the number to call is 1-800-323-6250. For those on the Vista Healthcare Plan, the number the call is 1-800-221-5487.
OPEN ENROLLMENT
The benefits open enrollment period for all Broward County Public Schools employees has been extended. Additional information will be forthcoming once schools are back in session following recovery operations.
