BCAA Game of the
Week 4:
Plantation 52 - Dillard 14
|
Move over Blanche Ely Tigers, the Plantation Colonels have laid claim
to the #1 ranking in Broward County with a dominating win over the
state-ranked Dillard Panthers.
The Colonels offensive attack was once again led by the dynamic running
duo of Georgia Wells and Shane Osbourne. Each back ran for more than
150 yards – and for the second weak in a row, the Colonel ground
game amassed over 400 rushing yards. With back to back victories over
Boyd Anderson and Dillard the Colonels are the front-runners to win the
competitive District 7-6A classification.
In route to their victory, the Colonels were dominant in every phase
of the game. Taking advantage of a Dillard fumble, the Colonels scored
first on a Ruebin Robinson 14 yard touchdown run with 11:14 remaining
in the first quarter. On their next possession, the Colonels demonstrated
their offensive balance as quarterback Richard Armchir connected on a
34-yard TD pass to Cedric McGee.
And the route was on.
The Dillard Panthers played poorly on both sides of the line of scrimmage.
The Colonel offensive line had their way with the bigger Dillard defensive
front, and the Dillard lineman found themselves time and time again beaten
to the punch by the quicker-trapping Colonel offensive line.
The Colonels domination of Dillard was a clear signal to the standing
room only crowd of 5,000 at PAL field as well as all of Broward County
that Plantation football is ready to challenge for supremacy in the state
of Florida.
