South Plantation

Can heart and soul carry a team to the state softball final four?
In the case of the South Plantation High Paladins, the answer is a resounding
- YES!
The team's prospects looked gloomy at the beginning of the year. Long-time
coach Marty Cooper left the Paladin program and moved to American Heritage.
In addition, two players from the Paladins accompanied Coach Cooper to
American Heritage. The expectations for new first year coach Laura Pursurer
wer modest - rebuild the Paladins for the future.
The catalyst for the Paladin season was a thrilling 3-2 victory over
cross-town rival Plantation Colonels. The excellent play and hitting
of seniors Rachael Lang and Vanessa Rask put the Paldins over the top
in this thrilling game. The Paladins advanced to the final four by beating
Western High 1-0 in the regional finals.
