TITLE 1 ORIENTATION MEETING TO FEATURE NOTED AUTHORITY AS GUEST SPEAKER

Parents and family members of students attending Title 1 schools; parents of "at-risk"
students; all other parents and community members

WHAT:
"Parent Power!" - Orientation Meeting for Title 1 Parent
Representatives

WHEN:
Thursday, September 22, 2011 – 7 p.m.
(Refreshments served, 6:30 – 7 p.m.
Mobile Unit available, 6 – 6:45 p.m.

WHERE:
Dillard High School (Auditorium), 2501 NW 11th Street, Fort Lauderdale

WHY:
To provide parents with valuable information on raising student achievement; parenting tips;
learning strategies

HOW:
Guest speaker at the event will be Chike Akua, a leading authority on increasing
achievement of today's students, especially those labeled "at-risk." He is known for his
dynamic, interactive presentations to teachers, parents and students.

ADDITIONAL:
This event is being presented by the District's Title 1, Migrant & School Improvement
Department. Child care will be provided. For additional information, contact your school's
