The School Board of Broward County’s Supplier Diversity and Outreach Program Office will host its Annual Minority/Women Business Expo 2009 at Coral Springs High School, 7201 West Sample Road, Coral Springs on Thursday, August 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The District welcomes all MBEs, organizations and corporations to attend.
The Expo is designed to help minority and women business entrepreneurs gain exposure to potential contracting and networking opportunities with major School Board of Broward County vendors, District staff, and public and private sector organizations.
Vendors will have an opportunity to set up and staff a tabletop display during the Expo. Exhibitor space is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is a $50 exhibitor fee.
Expo guests will receive training on contract procurements and information about the Broward County Public Schools Supplier Diversity and Outreach Program. Workshops and roundtable discussions will cover topics such as: Procurement with Broward County Public Schools and How to Conduct Business with the Federal Government and the 8 (a)/sdb Certification Program that the Federal Government offers to the Minority Community.
Special presentations include Dr. Nelson Santiago of EAR-Q Corporation with “Small Technology for Small Business,” a guide to getting a return on your I.T. Investments and the Broward County Government Procurement/Aviation Department of the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport with “Vendor Certification and Current/Future Projects.”
Among the many sponsors scheduled to participate are American Express, Grace & Naeem Uddin, Inc., Hinson Office Supply, Control Communications, Inc., A1A Transportation, Inc., Sonshine Educational Tours, McKinley Financial Services, Inc. and Broward County Government - Small Business Development Division.
Admission to the Expo is free and open to the public. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with workshops beginning at 10 a.m. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.
