SUBJECT: Changes In Rules That Govern Special Education Is Topic Of Workshop Offered For Parents Of Students With Disabilities
Over the last 18 months, the Florida Department of Education has amended most of the rules that govern the provision of special education under the Individuals with Disabilities Act. To keep parents informed, Broward County Public Schools Exceptional Student Education Department is presenting a workshop, titled “Rules, Rules, Rules,” for parents of students with disabilities, although all parents are welcome to attend.
The workshop will be held Saturday,September 12, 2009, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Health Professions Division Assembly Building, Room 2105, on the campus of Nova Southeastern University, 3200 S.University Drive, Davie.
The session, to be presented by Rosemary Palmer, Attorney-at-Law, will be a walk through the Florida State regulations on eligibility, evaluations, provision of services, related services and procedural safeguards for students with disabilities.
A $10 fee will cover the session, a copy of the Florida Statutes and State Board of Education Rules, and refreshments. Pre-registration is required.
