Pompano Beach High School, International Affairs Magnet Program will celebrate Brazilian Independence Day on Wednesday, September 9 with a lecture, demonstration and performance by the Brazilian music ensemble Clube do Choro from 9:15 – 10:45 a.m. in the theater at Pompano Beach High School, 600 NE 13th Avenue in Pompano Beach.
Five hundred elementary, middle and high school students will enjoy the lecture demonstration and performance along with special guest Paulo Amado, Deputy Consul, Consulate General of Brazil in Miami.
The program is part of a unique collaborative initiative between the School Board of Broward County, Broward Center for the Performing Arts, the Consulate General of Brazil, and Clube do Choro, to promote cross-cultural learning through the arts.
The Broward Center was named the South Florida Point of Culture by the Brazilian Ministry of Culture in 2006 and continues to support Brazilian cultural exchange.
