PERSONAL: Ann was born in Winthrop, Massachusetts, moving to Hollywood, Florida in 1968 with her now deceased husband, Charles "Chickie" Murray and children. She has resided at her Boulevard Heights address for over 40 years. Her children attended local schools, Hollywood Park Elementary, Apollo Middle, McArthur High and Nova schools.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND: In 1970 Ms. Murray began her career with the School Board of Broward County, Florida. Over the years she worked her way up through the ranks and held numerous positions in the Transportation Department, including School Bus Operator, Driver Trainer, Transportation Specialist, Terminal Shift Supervisor, Supervisor for Transportation Operations, and Terminal Manager. She also served as a Broward Teachers Union, 2007-2008 Shop Steward and Federation of Public Employees 1974-1986 Shop Steward.
AS A BOARD MEMBER
Ms. Murray was elected in November 2008 and reelected again in November 2010. During her tenure as a Board Member, Ann has served as Vice Chair from November 2010-11 and was selected as Chair by her colleagues in November 2011. Since Ann took office in 2008 she has worked tirelessly to represent District One’s 51 public and charter schools of which 41 schools are Title One schools.
