The State of Education in Broward County Public Schools
Linked below is the revised, The State of Education in Broward County Public Schools.  Last provided in 2004-05, these data provide an opportunity to evaluate the progress of Broward County Public Schools (BCPS).  These facts are compared to the first year the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test-Sunshine State Standards (FCAT-SSS) was administered in 1998-99 and 2001-02.  To better determine BCPS student progress, the data were disaggregated without statistics for the 16,100 students attending charter schools or the 4,715 students enrolled at centers.  The figures are provided by District, the four administrative areas, and by single Board Member Districts.

As you will see, Broward County Public Schools has made much progress over the timeframe reported.  Increases in school grades and the proportion of students reaching proficiency on state assessments, as well as, participation in college entrance testing and enrollment in high rigor courses are just a few of the areas that are evidenced.  However, continued improvement is warranted as we still have much to do in regard to graduation rates and high school performance, for example.
