Throughout the upcoming 2015/16 school year, the Miramar High School football team will participate in several community service projects geared towards helping the homeless in south florid. The team’s first community service project took place at the Miami Rescue Mission’s downtown Miami campus, where students helped serve food to the homeless in addition to cleaning and organizing the Miami Rescue Mission facility.
The team hopes to not only help give back to the community, but to also grow their characters both on and off the field.
The senior students served the Miami Rescue Mission alongside the non-profit SHEAR Inc., which provides a variety of community service needs, with special emphasis on education and mentoring to help better lives and communities.
The Miami Rescue Mission has served the homeless and needy since 1922. Its centers offer emergency and residential programs and various services for its residents.
